Would you help your bf financially?

So I just realized my bf sucks at managing his credit card bills and we got our tax refunds but his is still not enough to pay his debt. I'm pretty good with mine I've never had any late fees and I always pay in full and I make more than him so I'm financially stable atm. We live together and I love and trust him and I didn't want him to have to pay finance charges every month so I paid off $1200 from his card while he paid $450 of it and every month I will get $100 from him. Is this stupid of me? Not that I don't trust him its just he's not my family yet. I've helped my mom financially before by lending her $3000 but it's just an odd feeling to help a boyfriend/girlfriend. Would you do the same thing for yours if they needed help?
