Question about returning opened new merchandise from gamestop?

So, I recently bought a SFIV fightstick, I was wondering if the fight stick breaks or something happens to it, will I be able to return it for the identical item? what if they no longer have any other fightsticks available, would they just give me store credit? or would I be stuck with a broken fight stick?
