Is it possible to bypass my wireless card on my laptop?

I have a Dell inspiron 1525 laptop with XP pro on it. It has a fully functional wireless G card but my home wireless network is now Wireless N. I have a USB wireless N adapter that i used for my desktop before it died. Is it possible to plug the USB wireless N adapter into the laptop and use it to connect to the internet so i can have my speed back ?
