Cashiers - do you feel silly asking for an ID when someone pays by credit card?

I don't feel stupid for asking. As an employee, it protects ME in case someone does come in with a stolen one and I don't check. I would be liable and could be fired. Besides, you'd be surprised at what people will buy with a stolen card. When mine was stolen, they bought $17 worth of food at McDonalds.
