Can I default on a traffic ticket?

I got a BS red light ticket a few months back and I dont want to pay it. its close to 500 bucks and Im on unemployment and cant afford to be giving out my money. I want to just default on this ticket but I dont know if it works like any other defaults. Will it just affect my credit? will I be arrested? what are the odds of a warrant for my arrest? Is it worth it to default (i dont care about my credit?)
