Buying a car using someone else's credit?

Hi. My mom just recently got a car by using her friend's daughter's credit. The daughter used her credit but we are paying off the down payment as well as the monthly fee. I was wondering if this can be a scam. My mom is very trusting. My question is, is it possible that after we finish the 5 year payment the daughter can claim to the police that we stole her car? also is it possible that if the daughter is having trouble with money and the bank that they can repo my car?
